This Biennal Museum is not complete in itself. The creation of the museum must be considerated as sometting much more important tham just an exhibition place. There is an extra value to it, spread diffusion that this museum wile develop.

Our country Argentina, and our native city San Nicolás, have be come a new meeting place for cermic artist. We feel that we are recasing not only their tiles but also their expectations. We consider that this is one link more of a chair that we hv – forme to make the different people of the erth become united.

The III Bienal Internacional del Mosaico Contemporáneo was opened in San Nicolás, Buenos Aires, Argentina, on 9th June at 11:30 am with the presence of local authorities, local and foreign participants and a lot of general public. It was a really emotional ceremony.

The renowned piano player Orlando Millá performed the national anthem and traditional songs Honoring the jury members. He was accompanied by the exquisite soprano Alicia Scotti.

After that, Daniel Abad, the president of Asociación Cultural Rumbo, and Jaly Vázquez, the general coordinator of the biennial project, shared their moving speeches with the public.

Later, Marcelo Carignani, the head of local government, expressed how deeply moved he was about the success of this project, and, emphasized the work done by our institution, which has been encouraging cultural activities uninterruptedly since its foundation in 1941.

Next, Mrs. Celeste Ansaldi de Alisio was given a certificate and a bouquet of flowers, thanking her for the donation she made: a delicate ceramic work of art by the beloved and unforgettable Artemio Alisio. This work has become part of our museum (MICC).

  Then, the jury members, the head of local government and the president of Rumbo  went on with the inauguration act, thus opening the III BIMC exhibition room.

People enjoyed and were amazed at such diversity and creativity expressed on 15cmx15cmx5cm tiles by artists belonging to so many countries. There were 367 works from 39 countries: Canada, Norway, China, Korea, Japan, Ukraine, Martinique, Lithuania, Lethonia, Latvia, Egypt, France, Spain, Portugal, Switzerland, Italy, Chile, Belgium, Brazil, the USA, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Cuba, Perú, Uruguay, Colombia, Venezuela, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Croatia, Turkey, Serbia, Argentina, Taiwan and Mexico.

During the following days, there was a series of talks and conferences in our institution according to schedule. All these activities were free and open to general public and a lot of people enjoyed them. Many artists, students and school groups visited the exhibition and the museum.
The exhibition will be open for three months and then the works will become part of the museum (MICC).
The success of these events makes us think of improving the project not only to express and enjoy art, but to share and feel the world of ceramics.

MICC

It was opened in 2004 in Asociación Cultural Rumbo, 9 de Julio 82, San Nicolás, Buenos Aires province, Argentina.

It has a hall and three rooms properly arranged. Specialized personnel from the city touristic entitiy are willing to show the works in the museum and are talk about the project.

There are 600 tiles from 38 countries in exhibition today. They were sent as a donation by ceramists to participate in the I and II biennial exhibitions.
There are also works by Vilma Villaverde, Leo Tavella, Alejandrina Cappadoro, Jaly Vázquez and Artemio Alisio.
After the III BIMC the number of works and countries participating has risen by 967 and 48 respectively.
The museum is a dynamic place, organizing and supporting guided visits, talks, exhibitions, courses, etc.

Monday to Thursday from 9:00 AM to 12:00PM
Friday from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM / 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm
Saturday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM
Sunday from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM
